My Beauty Edit No. 3
Body waves, wedding attire, world spa guide, endless summer must haves, and future beauty ethics.
Hello and hi, finally starting to feel like my brain and body are back online. The last couple of weeks? Total blur. I was moving at snail speed, tucked in bed (or at least was trying to, not an easy thing with 2 kids), and honestly, I think my body was just waving the white flag saying, “Hey, slow down.”
But summer’s here! YES! the sunshine is long and golden, and I’m soaking up after-school hangs with my kids, spontaneous friend adventures, and a renewed spark of energy. You’ve been sliding into my DMs with wedding hair questions, travel beauty tips, and yes, so many brassy hair emergencies. Don’t worry, I’m working on a full Substack just for that!
I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Vienna for press with a client who has a new Netflix show called FUBAR. It’s a fun watch that will make you laugh and feel good! And now I’m back at my dining table, with a dirty matcha (espresso shot in a matcha - new fav!) in hand, ready to dish some beauty finds and all the little things inspiring me this week.
Hope you enjoy! If you do, I’d be so grateful if you drop a heart and share this post. If you’re not already a subscriber, come hang out!
Xo,
1. Hair Trends, Summer 2025
If you’ve been looking for haircut and haircolor inspo for your next salon visit this roundup is worth bookmarking. I’m a fan of the Sunset Balayage, Smokey Espresso color, layered midi and soft bob. There is also one of my fav ways to quickly upgrade your classic summer ponytail.
2.Slowing Ovarian Aging: A New Frontier
Researchers at Columbia are testing low-dose rapamycin to slow egg loss and the results are wild. In early trials, it reduced monthly egg decline by more than half and improved hair, skin, and memory. Could this be the next big thing in longevity medicine? Too early to tell I think but I love that women will have more options if they want to start a family later in life.
3. Hair Loss Breakthrough: UCLA’s PP405 Molecule
Balding could be a thing of the past! Yay job security lol! UCLA scientists have developed a molecule that reawakens dormant follicles and boosts hair growth. The results are impressive! It made me imagine one day seeing a whole generation of grandma’s and grandpa’s with glorious full heads of hair and hope for so many people I know struggling with hairloss.
4. Sculptural Vanity Goals
Kelly Wearstler’s latest vanity design proves that the beauty ritual can be its own form of art. Chic, bold, and functional.
5. Pamela Anderson x Biolage
Loved her in the 90’s and I think Biolage bringing Pamela Anderson into the mix is such a brilliant move. I’ve worked with Biolage for years as a hairdresser and now as an Artistic Director and seen it’s evolution as a brand over the past 6 years. Her natural beauty, bare-faced confidence, and laid-back energy feel nostalgic in the best way and completely aligned with what Biolage stands for. I really enjoyed reading her interviews about her beauty evolution here and here.
6. Air dry Your Way Thru Summer
Pro tip: Detangle your hair in the shower while your conditioner is in—then hands off. Skip the post-shower brushing and towel turbans. Be gentle with your waves or curls and encourage their pattern with a light scrunch. My fav products for keeping frizz at bay and encouraging your waves are here. Send me a DM if you want me to tell you which ones for your hair type and waves/curls. My step by step here. And if you’re after more volume and definition, you’ll love my plopping technique. For my second day hair girlies here are a few heatless hairstyles that are so easy!
7. Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Hits $1 Billion
The minimalist beauty brand just reached unicorn status. Proof that simple, well-branded skincare still wins. If you’ve been curious to try a few things, I’m a fan of this and this and this.
8. Perms aka Body Waves are having a moment (again).
Here’s my take: If you’re dreaming of low effort, air dried waves all summer long, a modern perm/body wave can be magic—but only in the right hands. Always go to a pro who specializes in perms and ask for a test curl underneath to see how your hair takes, especially if it’s color treated. You can even try a semi permanent version that lasts 6 to 8 weeks so you can test drive the look before fully committing. More in this Vogue article.
9. Brains & Beauty
Why is everyone suddenly obsessed with books again? This piece breaks it down with cultural insight and a wink.
10. Summer of Weddings
My group chats have basically turned into dress try-ons and “how do I do my hair for this?” So I pulled together a summer-ready lineup: breezy dresses, snatched ponytails, quick hair tricks, accessories that instantly level things up, this petal pretty hairstyle and the one lip liner I’ve worn all year. Your summer glow-up, sorted.
11.Designer Babies + Future Beauty Ethics
CRISPR and aesthetic genetics are raising serious questions. Where does beauty stop being aspirational and start becoming engineered? Thought this was an interesting read
12. Modern Facelifts + Glow-Ups
It’s not about freezing your face anymore. Think glow, lift, and micro-tweaks. A fresh perspective on what “anti-aging” looks like today. Also, anyone curious about Jenner’s new snatched face, this is has some details.
13. Greasy Roots, Dry Ends, Combo Skin
Can you relate? It’s the top question I’ve been hearing—and living myself—lately. I tested Hairstory’s two-step wash method and was seriously impressed. It’s now a staple in my routine, and you can see the full before and after right here. If summertime throws your skin out of balance this is my go to thru all the seasons and when my hormones are breaking me out (comes in travel size too!)
14. French Pharmacy
If you’re obsessed with french beauty products but not on any flight soon, these are nine of the most cherished skincare products you can get stateside from Vogue editor Kiana Murden.
15. Vogue’s Global Spa Guide
